After the launch of their record label, Grand Hotel, and after a huge Australian tour with the likes of Justice, Duck Sauce and Erol Alkan, what more is left for Lee and Andy, A.K.A. Plump DJs? …to launch their very own night of course!

This Saturday sees the duo launch Grand Hotel at east London’s most exciting new venue, XOYO, with sets from Mumdance, Herv√© and Plump DJs themselves. So, what else can we expect from these nights? We decided to have a little chat with the Plumps and they told us…

The idea to showcase acts that we are inspiring us on the underground. Also to build a new platform that would allow us experiment with our sound and that of acts singed or associated with the label.

We have Dj’ed with both Herve and Mumdance at Fabric and Snowbombing Festival in Austria. We feel that they are 2 of the UK’s most exciting acts at present, and perfect for the 1st event. Maximilian is a new London based Producer who has just remixed Dirty Super Cars ‘Get a Grip’ and has his debut single ‘Dont Let Go’ out this month on Grand Hotel Records.

We hope that people get off on the music as much as we do, and support the events that we hope to move up and down the country, and eventually internationally.

There are a limited number of tickets still available so snap some up quick.

Plump DJs have also been making some more time to tour and produce. We asked them how that side of things has been going…

You’ve just toured Australia with the likes of Justice, Duck Sauce and Erol Alkan. How did that go for you guys?

Amazing, all the shows were incredible, from an unexpectedly rammed Monday night in Hobart Tazmania, to the incredible sunset set in the botanical gardens in Sydney in view of the opera house. Breakfests 10 aniversary in Perth was a high point, so to was our Gold Coast set were thousands turned up to watch us Dj along side Riva Star.”

When you get some free time, how do you choose where to go for a night out?

We generally prefer ‘ a plump night out’ basically the event has to feel unique, special kind of magical in a way. Weekends are sacred, a chance to have unforgettable times with your mates and find your place to escape on the dance floor.

Being so busy with the Grand Hotel label and now these nights, will you still have time to produce and get into the studio?

Yes, we would go mad if we did not. Plus the new music we make fuels the plump engine. We are always in the studio monday to friday, then Dj’ing on the weekend. We have taken some time out over the past few week ends so wee can focus on the studio more, we must find new ways to make people dance. It is our way!

Plump DJs have very kindly given us a FREE DOWNLOAD of the Human Life remix of Egotripping by Bonsai Kat, released on their Grand Hotel label. The beat is an absolutely ruthless electro roller-coaster and, best of all, it’s free. Go on, treat yourself.
