Mistajam’s Daily Dose of Snoop Dogg
We all know who Mistajam is these days, he’s the one whose voice we always hear on the radio saying the two words ‘broad spectrum’ more times than George Osbourne looks at David Cameron’s arse during PMQ’s. He is also the man whose voice you always hear and you automatically know he is fat, this has been proven to be factual. But the way he has the dubstep world in his palm at the moment is something to admire and, jokes aside, what he has done for the scene over the past few years has boosted the careers of many a producer via his shows on Radio1 and 1Xtra. As a producer these days, once you’ve mixed down a tune, I’d imagine the first thing you’d do is drop box it to Mistajam. I certainly would. His shows are the biggest platform to get your music heard. END OF.
Head shot = Fat but you know it
His latest project though, you would never of pre-empted. So it goes, in a nutshell, Snoop was in the UK doing festival dates over the summer and was listening to the Big Dawgs show on Radio1, Jam comes on after and proceeds to impress Snoop. Now we all know Snoop loves a bit of Dubstep. Well I hope you did bitches. If you didn’t know, he done that tune with Chase and Status, spitting over their song Eastern Jam. Anyway, Snoop gets in touch with Jam and says he wants Jam to go out, get some hot tunes in the world of dubstep and send them over to Snoop and his boys to spit all over, and when I say spit, I don’t mean in the El-Hadji Diouf sense. YA KNOW WHAT I MEAN?
Anyway, born was the ‘Throw Your Dubs Up’ Mixtape. Its free, and it does what it says on the tin, Dubstep beats with west coast bars tattooed all over them. The Mixtape comes in separate tracks, but has been recorded in one go, a DJ mixing, numerous rappers I’ve never heard of spitting (bar Snoop) and I’m guessing, a lot of Hennessey and herb. Sounds like fun to me. Now I was always more of a Dre/Eminem fan. I prefer my rap lyrics more aggressive rather than Snoops laid back ‘yeaaah, gin ‘n’ juice kick back get ma dick sucked count me green and feed the doggs’ kinda smooth rolling bars. Not saying I dislike it, I just have preferences, as people that have read my pieces previously would know. Mind you, even if you did dislike it, you just don’t par snoop. It’s just an unwritten rule in life. Snoop is a G…..STANDARD!
Artists to have their tunes feature on the mixtape include, Flux Pavillion, Roksonix, True Tiger, 16 Bit, High Rankin, Redlight, Gemini, Dream, Wire and more. I like the beats chosen, Jam knows what he is doing and must have a pretty decent looking phone book, so getting beats can’t have been a big ordeal. All this is though, is just something different, just another novelty. It should be aimed at rap fans that haven’t taken the time to get into dubstep before. Will it shake the world to its knees? I doubt it. A good listen once or twice then into the recycle bin it goes for me. Life.
