Banquet’s Big Day Out
The wonderful people at Banquet Records ( Kingston’s, hell the UK’s best record shop) have just annouced that they’ll be putting on their very own festival! It certainly does have a cracking lineup, featuring an array of Banquet Record regulars.
The festival is called Banquet’s Big Day Out and will be on Monday the 4th of June. It will be headlined by rock heavywieghts Kids In Glass Houses. All the acts on the lineup, which include fastly rising rock band Deaf Havana, ska-reggae upstarts The Skints (we’ll have a review of their skanktastic new album Part & Parcel up soon) have played for Banquet Records one time or another.
Sitting amongst pop-rock acts comes genuine dance hall pioneer Dave Rodigan ( BlagSound’s Mark wrote a fitting piece on this legend here http://www.blagsound.com/news/3471.blag) and punk’s next big thing The Computers. The lineup really shows the diversity of taste that Banquet Records have become known for.
There are many more acts to be annouced and tickets for its pre-sale go on sale this Monday. You can grab your ticket for the dirt cheap price of 15 quid from :http://www.banquetrecords.com/
Here at BlagSound we love what Banquet Records have done for Kingston, in short they’ve pretty much created Kingston’s music scene, all while retaining their independent ethos. In fact without Banquet a good 70% of my interviews just would not have happened without their help. So we can’t wait for this festival and with a lineup as good as it it is you’d be a fool to miss it.
