Craig Finn of The Hold Steady has released his first solo single entitled “Honolulu Blues”.

The single is a preview off his debut album “Clear Heart Full Eyes” and will be released via Vagrant Records in the US and Full Time Hobby in the UK.

The single showcases a subtle departure from the shambolic rock n’ roll associated with The Hold Steady. While characters familiar to Hold Steady fans such as Gideon make appearances within “Honolulu Blues” and the story telling nature of many Hold Steady songs is still present, the single takes us in a slightly different direction. “Honolulu Blues” has a more laid back country esque vibe that will delight fans who like their country with just a hint of recklessness. If the album is half as good as the single then we’re in for a treat.
