From hearing the beautiful tune “what they say” one has been craving to hear and sample the production skills of Maya Jane Coles, so when Dollop decided to present an array of deep house sensations of the moment, my anticipation and excitement were hard to contain, I was wetting myself to cumpoint and man she didn’t disappoint.

The venue was Stealth and Rescue Rooms in Nottingham which is well known for being the perfect venue for bass and intimacy. It played host to Fantatasic Mr Fox, Loefah (DMZ), New York Transit Authority, Cera Alba and Ms Coles herself. Dollop DJ’s as always, were present too. Entering the room, the heat and vibe hit me instantly and the space had vibes similar to Outlook Festival last year.

Now, for someone who prides them self on being an avid fan of all things bass, growing up with drum and bass and investing a lot of audio pleasure in dubstep, one never really understood the fascination with house. I always found myself waiting for the proverbial “drop” when the room spins, your limbs get lose and your heartbeat goes in time with the wobble. However with nights like this happening in Notts, I was always bound to fall in love with it. Obviously house is a huge genre, but the deep soulful stuff knocking about at the moment is something really special.

The progressive and well produced sounds that Maya Jane Coles played to the ravers were beautiful, being able to be one with music that I’m not necessarily that familiar with really was something. Maya played with the crowd gently like it was a sensual hour session of foreplay, so when the much awaited climax arrived, her statement tune “what they say” was arguably the most substantial moment of the night. This was reflected in how the rest of Stealth went mental. Musical Orgasm? Yes without a doubt. She played with my heart strings whilst making my whole body tingle through smooth melodic top lines and sexual vocals.

Truth is this young lady was always going to be a star. Her productions are tight, her DJ’ing skills are right up there and she knows how to progress a set and present her tracks to people in clubs. Her Ibiza residency last year gave her a platform and now she has that platform, people on our shores are aware of her, they are flocking to see her all over the UK. She is the name on people’s lips. Deep vocal house is having a moment right now. It’s not something many people would of predicted, but people are loving it and so am i.

Peace & Love!
