It is common to politely overuse the word ‘beautiful’ when describing a piece of music. This is a very destructive practice, because it reduces the word’s impact when it is used in its truest sense, to describe something of genuine beauty. But Nomad Soul’s single ‘Murmuration’ has no room for meaningless polite terms. Hands down, this is truly and genuinely beautiful piece of work.

It’s those three piano chords at the beginning. Christ, there’s something about these chords; each one whispering us into a melancholic drowse – to a calming daze. They are played with a dull heaviness, riddled with emotion. For the first few seconds of ‘Murmuration’ we are invited to the blissful sound of this beautiful piano, and these few seconds stop us in our tracks, transfixing, relaxing. Soothed. And then, slowly but surely – like the causal runner breaking into a sprint – we are lifted into an atmosphere brimming with gorgeous energies – up, up, and away.

Reflective guitars, soulful trumpets, and beautiful violins – it’s all blended together wonderfully in this masterpiece. And when those wonderful three minutes have passed, we are left with those beautiful, beautiful chords again. No piece of music has had such a deep effect like this on me in a very long time. I strongly recommend you give ‘Murmuration’ a listen and watch out for them in the future. Strong talent is brewing here.
